On February 1 Woodchat got together for a design jam to dicuss their projects.

Woodchat Transcript February 22, 2012 6pm Pacific/9pm Eastern

@LaMacchiaDesign: Taking a poll… What’s your favorite material for making full scale mock ups/models for furniture? #woodchat #woodworking

@unkilted: hey peeps? Whens #woodchat again? you catboys always have a good chinwag session.

@unkilted: Imagine if #woodchat and a #kiltchat combined – imagien the audience if you will….. 😉

@uppercutwood: Tonight’s #woodchat is a design jam – share your designs with Woodchat on G+ and we’ll split up the time: you present and get feedback

@RhodyFurniture: Is anybody going to be on #Woodchat today? Any specific topics?

@MansFineFurn: @RhodyFurniture #woodchat is on for tonight 9P EST. The topic is:design jam – share your designs. you present and get feedback

@MansFineFurn: RT @uppercutwood: Tonight’s #woodchat is a design jam – share your designs with Woodchat on G+ and we’ll split up the time: you present and get feedback

@WatkinsWoodWork: Not sure I’m making #woodchat tonight. 1st chance to hit the shop since Sat…gotta take the opportunity when I can.

@JudiciaryTerp: @MansFineFurn Wrote a 3-step process to share posts at the +WoodChat Page: http://t.co/aJH83eEr #woodchat

@woodbard: @Tumblewood @DyamiPlotke @uppercutwood @MansFineFurn A 3-step process to share posts at the +WoodChat Page: http://t.co/e143S3z2 #woodchat

@kring_l: unfortunately probable gonna miss #woodchat tonight 1 hr. to go 2 hr. driving left sorry

@MansFineFurn: RT @JudiciaryTerp: @MansFineFurn Wrote a 3-step process to share posts at the +WoodChat Page: http://t.co/aJH83eEr #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: #woodchat in 9 minutes! Come hang out for an hour! I believe the topic tonight is design-related.

@MichaelAgate: @flairwoodworks here and waiting #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: It has become somewhat of a ritual to monitor and participate in #woodchat between 6 and 7pm while cleaning up my shop.

@FlairWoodworks: @MichaelAgate What’s happening tonight? What’s your son building these days? #woodchat

@MichaelAgate: @flariwoodworks we are going to get into some powertools this weekend #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: Hi all. Checking in. #woodchat

@WoodworkGuy: Hi there @ramblinrdesigns #woodchat

@MichaelAgate: @flairwoodworks did you ever find out what was under that piece of maple on your G+ #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @MichaelAgate I want to let it dry out more. #woodchat

@LaMacchiaDesign: What’s up #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: hey everybody; back in 5 minutes…. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: So where’s @uppercutwood? Who’s running the show today? #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: Happy client upon delivery of a project today made me happy too. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @ramblinrdesigns That’s great. What was the project? #woodchat

@uppercutwood: Hello all! #woodchat

@uppercutwood: Ready to share your designs and get feedback from your online woodworking peers? #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: He lost a drawer (on the highway) to an antique dresser and needed a new one made. Color and grain matching was a challenge. #woodchat

@BillGriggs: Hello woodchat. I put out a new video. http://t.co/MXwrOlst #woodchat

@DJOfurnituremkr: It’s official. I will be giving this away at the Milwaukee Fine Furnishings Show this Fall: http://t.co/lLGwADiI #woodchat

@BillGriggs: @ramblinrdesigns Evening Beth. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: How about we start with Beth Perry’s curved case. https://t.co/fPjjd7Am #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @DJOfurnituremkr That’s very generous of you, Dale. The notches on the insides of the legs for the bars are interesting. #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: Oh boy. I’m sitting down. Lay it on me. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @Tumblewood I did too, but remembered in time. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @Tumblewood hey buddy glad you’re here! #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @ramblinrdesigns Thank you for submitting to G+Woodchat! #woodchat

@MichaelAgate: So you would cut the sides out of one piece of 12/4? #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @DJOfurnituremkr Are the notched purely aesthetic or do they also serve a practical purpose? #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: I wanted to do something different. Legs have already been spokeshave shaped. I used solid walnut. Shelves are Ambrosia Maple. #woodchat

@weilworks26: Checking in for #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @MichaelAgate That sounds like a good idea. Choose a rift-sawn piece. #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: The shelves will sit in notches cut in the legs. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: What do you all think about the overhang of the top on @ramblinrdesigns’ table? Is it enough? #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: Back to #woodchat.. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @ramblinrdesigns so the curves came out of one piece and that’s already done, wow! will the top be open or will it have drawers? #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @DJOfurnituremkr I like that piece, Dale! Love the notches and mixed media #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @FlairWoodworks I wish I had the sketchup, but the top seems to not be as stout as the legs. more overhang, maybe thicker? #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @ramblinrdesigns Are the legs 4″ x 4″ in cross section? They look good, but that number seems huge. #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: The top is open. My son has plans for the space and told me what he was looking for in terms of storage. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @ramblinrdesigns it might be super awesome to have the center divider and also the shelves and drawers follow the curve #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @ramblinrdesigns Beth, any progress photos? #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: I haven’t set up my google+ account yet for @fromthewoodshop; on the TO DO later tonight 🙂 #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @ramblinrdesigns right now they seem to break the curve a bit. #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: I started out with a 3/4″ vision for the top but beefed it up to 1 1/2″ thick. I had the same feeling you did. #woodchat

@MichaelAgate: Was just about to saw the same thing @uppercutwood #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @FlairWoodworks I would think more of an overhang and possibly non symmetrical #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @ramblinrdesigns I bet the grain looks awesome on the walnut with the curves I love walnut so awesome choice! #woodchat

@DJOfurnituremkr: @FlairWoodworks Yes, just aesthetic. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @ramblinrdesigns great minds think alike. #squirrel! #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @ramblinrdesigns Are we looking at a single drawer visually divided, or four separate drawers? #woodchat

@DJOfurnituremkr: @Tumblewood Thanks Vic! #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: Four separate drawers. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: preloading the next convo – who wants to get feedback next? #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: I like @tumblewood’s suggestion of asymmetry. But I’d love to see a pair of these, but mirror images #woodchat

@DJOfurnituremkr: @ramblinrdesigns I like it! #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @uppercutwood How many designs do we already have for this evening? #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: The drawer fronts do follow the curve. I hadn’t thought about the divider, but I will. #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: @ramblinrdesigns I like it! Kinda trippy #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @MansFineFurn Yes! a set of mirror asymmetrical end tables would be cool! #woodchat

@mamader: Evening all! #woodchat

@Tumblewood: I only got Beth’s and Matt’s Mantle posted to Woodchat #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @mamader Hey Mike! #woodchat

@MichaelAgate: One last thing for me on the Betty Perry, I think the top needs to be beefed up.

@ #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @mamader Hi Mike. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @FlairWoodworks not enough 🙁 #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: Thanks. What do you suggest I change on the top? The shape in front? I haven’t made it yet. #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: @mamader how’s it going? #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: if they’re not posted on woodchat, maybe candidates can just share links here in #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @Tumblewood my mantle was mostly sketchup practice and to seed the discussion. I moved past that design already #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @ramblinrdesigns looking at the piece from the front and side you see curves, what about from the top? #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: Correction: if theyre not posted on +woodchat, maybe candidates can just share links here in #woodchat

@mamader: @FromTheWoodshop Pretty good! How are you? #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: @ramblinrdesigns might be a little tricky, but the center divider to follow same curvature as the legs / body.. IMHO #woodchat

@uppercutwood: MT @MansFineFurn: If they’re not posted on +woodchat, just share links here <- Yes please! #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: I hadn’t planned any topside curves but think I will after this input. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: MT @FromTheWoodshop: @ramblinrdesigns center divider to follow same curvature as the legs / body. I agree +1 #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: How about this table I built? What do you think of it? http://t.co/FFxoJcI2 #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: @mamader fast paced day; but went pretty well… #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: Thanks. Back to SketchUp to play around with it. #woodchat

@McPhersonDoug: Hello all. just arrived. #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @FlairWoodworks you KNOW I love the twisted table #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: @FlairWoodworks I like it. but the top needs some twist too #woodchat

@uppercutwood: MT next project: @FlairWoodworks: How about this table I built? What do you think of it? http://t.co/dBBr7xQc #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @Tumblewood But is there anything you would tweak? #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @FromTheWoodshop The only thing I can think is the wood hides the details too much #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: I think I might have some twisted wood 😉 RT @MansFineFurn: @FlairWoodworks I like it. but the top needs some twist too #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @ramblinrdesigns beth thank you for sharing, and I hope the feedback is good, and was delivered in a positive way for you! #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: @FlairWoodworks I particularly like the way the twist on the legs follows the lower apron.. very cool. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: Here’s a top view of Table with a Twist. http://t.co/tnxhr9A1 #woodchat

@DJOfurnituremkr: @FlairWoodworks I really like it. Would like to see it with ebonized ash base & bubinga top. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @FlairWoodworks The twist in the aprons is easy to see. The twist in the legs sneaks up on you. Anyway to make it more apparent? #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: YEAH!!! RT @DJOfurnituremkr: @FlairWoodworks I really like it. Would like to see it with ebonized ash base & bubinga top. #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: @FlairWoodworks Personally I’m a fan of contrasting wood colors…. Light and dark… #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @uppercutwood Probably better lighting placement would help. @Tumblewood and I talked about this. #woodchat

@MichaelAgate: @flairwoodworks dude how did you create those legs. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @FlairWoodworks maybe twist the bevel on the top, bevel the top on the left side and switch to the bottom on the right #woodchat

@DJOfurnituremkr: @FlairWoodworks Maybe no chamfer on the top. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: Me too, but where? RT @FromTheWoodshop: @FlairWoodworks Personally I’m a fan of contrasting wood colors…. Light and dark… #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @FlairWoodworks is the twist more apparent In person? #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: @FlairWoodworks maybe, but ebonized ash might mask the leg twist a bit #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @MichaelAgate Drawknife, spokeshave were used to make the twists. #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: @FlairWoodworks inlays that accentuate twist? #woodchat

@MichaelAgate: @FlairWoodworks That is friggin sweet lookin. #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: @FlairWoodworks Maybe a nice little banding around the edge of the table edge? #woodchat

@benjamenjohnson: @FlairWoodworks I was just about to ask how you made the twists. Cool table #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @uppercutwood That twisted bevel idea is intriguing. Quite techinically difficult too, I’d imagine. #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: @FlairWoodworks Proportion of the top looks a little off, but maybe it’s just the photo. Looks a little narrow for the legs. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: Hmmm. I do like the bevel on the top, but I can see it without! RT @DJOfurnituremkr: @FlairWoodworks Maybe no chamfer on the top. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @uppercutwood The twist is probably less obvious, if anything in person because of the lighting. #woodchat

@McPhersonDoug: I like the legs and the aprons, but would change the top. Doesn’t seem to match. Top is nice, but for another design.

@ #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: @FlairWoodworks to accent the champfer #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: Yes, I suspect it would hide the shadow. RT @MansFineFurn: @FlairWoodworks maybe, but ebonized ash might mask the leg twist a bit #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @ramblinrdesigns Agreed. I think either more front overhang or less side to side. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: That *might* be a little too much for me. RT @MansFineFurn: @FlairWoodworks inlays that accentuate twist? #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: Thanks! RT @MichaelAgate: @FlairWoodworks That is friggin sweet lookin. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: It’s possible… RT @FromTheWoodshop: @FlairWoodworks Maybe a nice little banding around the edge of the table edge? #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @FlairWoodworks This is one of those scenarios I think a higher gloss finish would help show the detail #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @ramblinrdesigns Did you see this photo? http://t.co/tnxhr9A1 There is minimal front/back overhang. #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: I like it just the way it is. Don’t change a thing, just light it so the shadows show the twist #woodchat

@McPhersonDoug: Too much going on with the table top. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @McPhersonDoug Any idea what you would use for the top, if not this? #woodchat

@uppercutwood: (who wants to go next and submit a design for feedback?) #woodchat

@McPhersonDoug: The legs and aprons are what makes the design I think.

@ #woodchat

@benjamenjohnson: @FlairWoodworks I like the size of the top, it gets a little close to the apron on the front edge though #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @Tumblewood @ramblindesigns More overhang on the front would hide the front apron… Perhaps less side overhang, then. #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: Here’s an outside the box idea; what about burning the faces of the twists to accent the actual edge of the twist? #woodchat

@Tumblewood: All I have is the details from my bench build. My next project is still only a sketch #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @Tumblewood The finish is actually fairly glossy. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: MT next project to discuss @DJOfurnituremkr: We can talk about this: http://t.co/RHrUXc64 Still my favorite. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: That’s easiest! RT @MansFineFurn: I like it just the way it is. Don’t change a thing, just light it so the shadows show the twist #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @FlairWoodworks Then it must mostly be the photography on this. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: Too much figure? Or are you referring to the bevels? RT @McPhersonDoug: Too much going on with the table top. #woodchat

@McPhersonDoug: Maybe a simple rectangle with some slight angle on the edges. Not much flair. Different color or species could be good #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @FlairWoodworks I hope you feel like you got good feedback, from good people, delivered in a kind way buddy. #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: unfortunately my designs are still in my head. Got stuck making a play kitchen for daughter today (was hoping to start by G&G bed #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @DJOfurnituremkr I like the finished “live” edge. @FlairWoodworks has employed that design element, too. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: I would agree. But what to do with the top… RT @McPhersonDoug: The legs and aprons are what makes the design I think. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: Onto this project @DJOfurnituremkr: We can talk about this: http://t.co/RHrUXc64 Still my favorite. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: I can’t do that! 😀 RT @McPhersonDoug: Maybe a simple rectangle with some slight angle on the edges. Not much flair. #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: maybe burn isn’t the right word; darken the faces to have light twisted edges…. #woodchat

@McPhersonDoug: I REALLY like how you did the legs and the aprons and tied them together that way! Very Cool. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @uppercutwood Oh, I did. Thanks for all the great feedback, #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @FromTheWoodshop Can you take a picture for us? 😉 #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @Tumblewood @DJOfurnituremkr I don’t think a live edge would work on Table with a Twist. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: Interesting idea.. RT @FromTheWoodshop: maybe burn isn’t the right word; darken the faces to have light twisted edges…. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: You’re all doing a good job delivering feedback in a constructive and positive way, please keep it up. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: RT @uppercutwood: You’re all doing a good job delivering feedback in a constructive and positive way, please keep it up. #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: @FlairWoodworks of the kitchen?? believe me, it’s not fancy, just a re-model of a garage sale cabinet.. #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @FlairWoodworks No, too many diverse design elements drown a piece #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: I love the simplicity of @DJOfurnituremkr’s table. #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: @DJOfurnituremkr seems a bit too tall, could just be the pics. Could make the bottom stretcher curved to match the front edge #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @FromTheWoodshop No, the designs in your head 😉 #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: @DJOfurnituremkr : I have a similar piece in the shop right now, only my “live edge” is angled. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @FlairWoodworks I could see myself on a stool at that table, with my wife on the other side, having a night out #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @MansFineFurn I think the height is fine, but it would also look nice at a coffee table height. #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @FlairWoodworks I think he’s on to something. Mask for different levels of finish absorption? #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: @FlairWoodworks funny guy!! If only I could do that!! #woodchat

@DJOfurnituremkr: @MansFineFurn If I recall the height is 31″ The stretcher is live edge. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @uppercutwood I have plans to expand the Twisted line… #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @FlairWoodworks is it weird that for coffee table I would want legs that were more stout? #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @Tumblewood Kind of like airbrushing? #woodchat

@BillGriggs: I’ve been wondering what to do with some Black Walnut with live edge. This inspires me #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: Are you talking about my table or Dale’s? RT @uppercutwood: legs that were more stout? #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: @DJOfurnituremkr yeah, suppose that makes it hard to curve (steam and huge clamps?) #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: what link are we looking at now? #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @FromTheWoodshop http://t.co/YFlKN4Ty #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: @DJOfurnituremkr what are the other dimensions? (L x W)? #woodchat

@uppercutwood: I like how the base is different in proportion on each end to match the shape of the top #woodchat

@DJOfurnituremkr: Ooops, 29″ tall. More info 7 photos here: http://t.co/wpxcNSwM #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @uppercutwood Me too. #woodchat

@benjamenjohnson: @DJOfurnituremkr Interesting design. I like the live edge on the stretcher. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @FlairWoodworks Dale’s table. If it was a coffee table height I’d want thicker legs for some reason. #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @FromTheWoodshop http://t.co/CM2gVpaD #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @uppercutwood Hmmm. Not me. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @DJOfurnituremkr I like how you used 3 uprights at one end and two at the other. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: This is a fast-paced #woodchat. My shop is not getting any cleaner.

@Tumblewood: @FlairWoodworks Yes, to an extent…to create more contrast. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: æœ¨æå ´ == Wood Park #woodchat

@Tumblewood: RT @uppercutwood: I like how the base is different in proportion on each end to match the shape of the top #woodchat

@DJOfurnituremkr: @MansFineFurn I think it was around 50″ long 26″ deep on the wide end, 12 on narrow. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @DJOfurnituremkr I think that maybe the top slab could be a little wider in proportion to the base. #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: To me it screams coffee shop! (a really nice one! 🙂 #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @DJOfurnituremkr I like your summer storm table even better probably because it’s more wood, less steel. I don’t know. I like it. #woodchat

@benjamenjohnson: @FlairWoodworks You need a program to read the tweets to you… #woodchat

@DJOfurnituremkr: @uppercutwood Thanks, it is at home with it’s new owner in Chicago. #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @FlairWoodworks Wider? I was thinking thicker. The black really grounds the piece and I think it could handle more top weight #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: That would be nice… if it could keep up. RT @benjamenjohnson: @FlairWoodworks You need a program to read the tweets to you… #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @benjamenjohnson it’s narrator, built into Windows. I think you can get it to work. It’s our accessibility technology. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @Tumblewood Perhaps thicker by 1/4″, 1/2″ at the most. Wider by a 2-4 inches or so. #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: I often bring wood home because of its unique color or live edge and try to then create around it. Did you do the same? #woodchat

@DJOfurnituremkr: @Tumblewood Think the top on that is about 1.75″ #woodchat

@uppercutwood: We have time for one last design, who wants to submit a link? How about you @MansFineFurn #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @uppercutwood Did you get my Manager invite to G+Woodchat? Anyone else care to help manage the page?! #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: @uppercutwood something like this for MAC? Honestly I’m a little stressed trying to keep up with the conversations!! #woodchat

@DJOfurnituremkr: @ramblinrdesigns Yes, it has some subtle spalting & curl. Fantastic piece. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: So Cool!!! MT @ramblinrdesigns: I often bring wood home because of its unique color or live edge and try to then create around it. #woodchat

@benjamenjohnson: @uppercutwood Would it handle Twitter language like @mention, RT. etc. I know the software in Ford Sync can do it right. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @Tumblewood I did, and I’ll help. Woodchat is my life on Wednesdays. 🙂 This is woodchat 15 I think. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @FromTheWoodshop If you select the text, you can secondary-click and choose Speech -> Start Reading #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @FromTheWoodshop @FromTheWoodshop I bet it’s built into a Mac as well. Look around for screen reader or something like that. #woodchat

@BillGriggs: @uppercutwood http://t.co/Ij7L6jns #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @BillGriggs Cup holders or holes for grommets? #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: @uppercutwood sure, I’ve got one in the works: http://t.co/lehkCtAr. Inlay is TBD ebony, holly, and ? #woodchat

@benjamenjohnson: @BillGriggs Dr. Seuss Desk? #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @DJOfurnituremkr Did you notice the link on the page is to your old site? Can you fix that for prospective customers? #woodchat

@benjamenjohnson: @MansFineFurn The link didn’t work for me. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: Some of the wood that followed me home… 8″ thick slab. #woodchat http://t.co/KOjzYyNE

@FromTheWoodshop: @FlairWoodworks gonna have to come back to that one.. don’t get a speech option #woodchat

@uppercutwood: Let’s discuss http://t.co/nJaqBBdM from @MansFineFurn and http://t.co/d2JTc0W4 from @BillGriggs #woodchat

@BillGriggs: @FlairWoodworks Grommet Holes. Computer Desk. http://t.co/GjC3LdY8 #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: @benjamenjohnson me neither…hmmm standby #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @benjamenjohnson I fixed it, take out the period. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @FromTheWoodshop Hmmm. I don’t get the speech option in TweetDeck. #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: Try this one: http://t.co/G4Mrqmev #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @BillGriggs What is the name of the table? I don’t want to try to pronounce it. hehe. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @uppercutwood At the same time! #mightgetmessy #woodchat

@DJOfurnituremkr: @Tumblewood Ooops, forgot about that. Thanks, I’ll take care of it tomorrow and on other sites I visit. #woodchat

@benjamenjohnson: @FlairWoodworks Wow! Nice wood. I see a bench #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: @BillGriggs The cutouts on the bottom of the legs bother me a little. Don’t know why. #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: Yup: RT @uppercutwood: @benjamenjohnson I fixed it, take out the period. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @MansFineFurn Looks too antiquish for me. How about adding a twist? 😉 #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @MansFineFurn I really like it, but would like some sort of foot: slipper, pad, something. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @benjamenjohnson Me too. #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @MansFineFurn How are you planning to handle the legs? Concerned for structural integrity #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @MansFineFurn I like the shape of the apron. #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: @BillGriggs looks like a desk, but I don’t think there’s room for me to nap under it, and no shelf for an alarm clock #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @MansFineFurn Can you make the aprons narrower? #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @BillGriggs is that meant to be Knock-Down? #woodchat

@benjamenjohnson: @BillGriggs The desk looks much less wild looking in wood. Did you use your CNC? #woodchat

@BillGriggs: @ramblinrdesigns The cutouts are functional but not pretty. #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: @FlairWoodworks The bottoms will get a gentle roundover to prevent chipout #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @FlairWoodworks You’ll have to show me the text to voice thing, Chris #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: @MansFineFurn I like the cut outs and diamond detail on the apron. #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: might change what you’re going for, but exposed M&T on the leg / apron?? #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: @FlairWoodworks narrower vertically? They’re already only 2.5in high, overall height with upholstery is 12.5″ #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @benjamenjohnson @billgriggs I agree seeing it in wood is much better #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @BillGriggs Does the desk go in a corner? If not, I’d put the curve on both front corners. #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: @BillGriggs What is their function? #woodchat

@BillGriggs: @MansFineFurn It is an extension desk to a corner desk. It knocks down with no tools. http://t.co/MXwrOlst #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @MansFineFurn Can you trim off 1/4″? #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @MansFineFurn Nick..what about integrity on the legs? You go completely out of grain alignment, unless you pick some bent grain. #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: @Tumblewood what about it concerns you structurally? #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @MansFineFurn I like it a lot. Not sure about the blue cushion though 🙂 #woodchat

@BillGriggs: http://t.co/jwgQbdee #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: @MansFineFurn It looks very critter like. How about some claw shaped feet? #woodchat

@DJOfurnituremkr: @MansFineFurn I like it! #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @BillGriggs now that is some great music #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @FlairWoodworks I LOVE the blue on Walnut…It’ll pop!~ #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @Tumblewood Perhaps too much curve for structural integrity in @MansFineFurn’s piece? #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: @Tumblewood traditional cabriole design, cut along the grain (the rendering may not show it) #woodchat

@uppercutwood: Before everyone leaves: I’d like one more piece of feedback: what did you think of our first design jam? #woodchat

@BillGriggs: Computer desk extension. Matches an L shaped desk. Movable shelves sand reverseable. #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @FlairWoodworks I might think about lamination, or better yet bending first then shaping #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @MansFineFurn Yes, the feet, as @Tumblewood mentioned, look like they have too much short grain. #woodchat

@DJOfurnituremkr: @uppercutwood I enjoyed it. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: Because I really liked the design jam. If we’re all great at joinery but can’t design, well, uh… so peer feedback is key. #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: @BillGriggs What about extending the back taller? #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @Tumblewood I don’t think laminations would look very good. Perhaps steam bending would work. #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @uppercutwood I thought it was fun. I’m in this for design. So, I like learning how to look at and critique pieces. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @Tumblewood Or getting some awesome curved grain. But I want some foot detail. #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: @uppercutwood I think it’s a good idea. I’ll have more to contribute to this in a few weeks. starting a G&G toddler bed #woodchat

@BillGriggs: @ramblinrdesigns Cables Grommets for two printers, two computers, 3 monitors and a 3D Printer. #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @FlairWoodworks Yes, I’d prefer steam bent #woodchat

@benjamenjohnson: @uppercutwood The design jam was an interesting experiment, I could see it really working well in a G+ Hangout #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @MansFineFurn Do you have a head-on view? #woodchat

@RenaissanceWW: Hey #woodchat quartz or mechanical clock movement?

@FlairWoodworks: @RenaissanceWW What’s the application? #woodchat

@uppercutwood: If you have ideas on how to improve design jams let me know. Sketchup files, videos of real pieces, dimensions, etc would help #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: @FlairWoodworks @tumblewood I see now, the rendering from the Software, the grain won’t cut across like that in the piece, #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @FlairWoodworks A laminate will have too much glue line showing in that orientation #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @benjamenjohnson I agree, and we’re getting there. @Tumblewood is working on it. #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @RenaissanceWW No clocks!! #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: Exactly. RT @Tumblewood: @FlairWoodworks A laminate will have too much glue line showing in that orientation #woodchat

@BillGriggs: @ramblinrdesigns I have an add on hutch to extend it taller. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @RenaissanceWW I’m not sure what’s best, have you checked http://t.co/t8TgHCIu #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: @uppercutwood The multi-tasking was challenging. The suggestions were great. Thanks. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: I know that! But how fancy of a clock? #woodchat RT @RenaissanceWW: @FlairWoodworks um a clock

@uppercutwood: @RenaissanceWW digital, or maybe water clock #woodchat

@benjamenjohnson: @BillGriggs Bill, you have too many cool toys :>) Someday…when the kids are bigger… #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @RenaissanceWW Continuous sweeps are nice. They are also silent. #woodchat

@BillGriggs: RT @benjamenjohnson: @BillGriggs Bill, you have too many cool toys :>) Someday…when the kids are bigger… #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @RenaissanceWW Oh, Sensai! Did you see my bitchin’ bench!? Thank you for all your help throughout!! #woodchat

@DJOfurnituremkr: See you all next week. #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: This format flies a little fast for this type of discussion. Maybe the woodchat page would be better. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @billgriggs is the only guy I now that woodworks in the shop in khaki slacks. #stayclassy 🙂 #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @DJOfurnituremkr Bye Dale. Hope the show goes well for you. #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: here’s an older front view #woodchat @FlairWoodworks http://t.co/2coUjJyy

@BillGriggs: RT @uppercutwood: @BillGriggs now that is some great music #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @ramblinrdesigns or a hangout, with one person at a time #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @ramblinrdesigns We can do this on the G+Woodchat page. It’s easier for me to follow, but have tried in the past and… #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: and another, better rendering: #woodchat @FlairWoodworks http://t.co/lEf15fUI

@Tumblewood: @ramblinrdesigns and hasn’t been well received #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: Visually the cabriole legs are great. Is the grain strong enough though? RT @MansFineFurn: front view #woodchat http://t.co/My81jR8Q

@FromTheWoodshop: wow… I am so lost… #woodchat

@BillGriggs: @uppercutwood Khaki is saw dust colored already. 🙂 #woodchat

@benjamenjohnson: @ramblinrdesigns I’ve seen people posting requests for critiques on G+, so I tried it and got a lot of good feedback #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @BillGriggs Not mahogany dust. #woodchat

@BillGriggs: @FromTheWoodshop Join the crowd. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @Tumblewood I think design jams are less real-time. So they might work. Hangouts for design jams? yes please! #woodchat

@Tumblewood: I’ve got some writing to do. Matt, try posting on the G+Woodchat page. You should have full rights. I saw you posted as Woodchat #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: @FlairWoodworks ignore the grain direction in the image, I just didn’t want to fight the software to get it the way it should go #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @FlairWoodworks If the wood is steam bent, the answer will be yes. #woodchat

@MansFineFurn: @benjamenjohnson @ramblinrdesigns I’ve had good luck with G+ posts for design reviews #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: @uppercutwood I’ve not tried hangouts yet. Do you all have to be there at the same time? #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: @MansFineFurn I am ignoring the grain direction in the image. I’m thinking about what straight-grained would look like. #woodchat

@BillGriggs: I need to post the completed pieces together. They make better sense that way. Just have to clean my desk off to take pics. #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: RT @Tumblewood: @FlairWoodworks If the wood is steam bent, the answer will be yes. #woodchat

@uppercutwood: Well woodchat, you are the best. I’ll capture a transcript and get things posted. See y’all later – keep chatting if you want! #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: Yes. RT @ramblinrdesigns: @uppercutwood I’ve not tried hangouts yet. Do you all have to be there at the same time? #woodchat

@Tumblewood: @uppercutwood I lost the first half of #woodchat. I hope you managed to get it. Please post on G+Woodchat page, too? #woodchat

@Tumblewood: Goodnight all!! #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: @uppercutwood Later!!! Thanks! #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: @uppercutwood I can help out with the g+woodchat page if you show me what to do #woodchat

@FlairWoodworks: I have to go more more wood around, then make dinner. Later, I’ll continue cleaning the shop. #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: @ramblinrdesigns ditto that; I don’t understand how all this stuff works yet.. And I’m only 39!!! #woodchat

@uppercutwood: @ramblinrdesigns @tumblewood sounds like Beth can help #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: @FromTheWoodshop I pester my sons when I get too confused. They were playing “puter” before they could walk. #woodchat

@benjamenjohnson: Goodnight all. Thanks to everybody who showed us their projects! #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: @uppercutwood email me if you want #woodchat

@FromTheWoodshop: @ramblinrdesigns wouldn’t help me much; my daughter just turned 2 yesterday… guessing her and I are on the same level 🙂 #woodchat

@BillGriggs: @benjamenjohnson Good Night Ben and yes it is CNC. #woodchat

@ramblinrdesigns: @uppercutwood What’s the best way for me to share my email with you? #woodchat
