Japanese bit brace before restoration.

Japanese bit brace before restoration.

This brace was handed down to me by family. No markings except “JAPAN.” This tool is rusty, but restorable. It seems to have a spring jaw and ratchet, about an eight inch sweep. I believe the handles are wood, but can’t tell what species.

Can you help me identify this brace manufacturer, model, and date range?

    Matt,

    I just found some info that said Fuller made braces in Japan. Found one on Ebay with the Fuller name on the sweep grip. Likely the first thing to rub off during use.
